Tony Liebert Thu, October 22, 2026 at 7:18 PM UTC · 2 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Wild captain Jared Spurgeon has officially been activated from injured reserve (IR) ahead of their Thursday night game against the Calgary Flames. Carson Lambos has been reassigned to the Iowa Wild in a corresponding move.
Spurgeon missed the last four games due to an upper-body injury, and he's now expected to return to the lineup against Calgary. This is his 17th season with Minnesota, and he had five points (one goal and four assists) in the first six games of the season.
With the C on his chest for the last seven seasons, Spurgeon is obviously a key part of what Minnesota wants to do. At 36 years old, he's one of the most important veteran voices in the locker room. The Wild went 2-1-1 in the four games without him in the lineup.
The Wild have dealt with a multitude of injuries so far this season, so getting Spurgeon back in the lineup is a huge boost with four road games remaining on their current road trip.
Minnesota's game against Calgary is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on Thursday. The Wild will be off on Friday before playing the Seattle Kraken at 9 p.m. CT on Saturday night.
